ReWoven
________________________________________ReWoven explores how objects accumulate new identities as they move between people, cultures and places. Working with rugs considered too worn for resale, the project combines traditional restoration techniques with contemporary fabrication to produce a new collection of woven artworks. New imagery, drawn from the architecture and industries surrounding their adopted home, is embedded within each surface, allowing past and present to coexist. The work draws upon the artist’s own family history of weaving while reflecting broader stories of migration, displacement and belonging.
