Dots of Data
___________________
Dots of Data was a participatory exhibition developed during the early research and engagement phase of 11 Million Dots, exploring how sound, data and everyday objects can become carriers of collective memory. Found objects gathered from across central London were engraved with subtle perforated patterns generated from information linked to each item, including its location, the person who discovered it and audio recordings captured during its collection. Suspended throughout the space, the objects formed an immersive installation accompanied by a continually evolving soundscape built from these recordings. Visitors were invited to contribute their own objects, stories and sounds, allowing the exhibition to expand through public participation while testing the methods of data collection, visual translation and community engagement that would later inform the permanent façade. As both an exhibition and an open research platform, Dots of Data explored how digital information, personal narratives and ordinary objects could be transformed into lasting public artworks.
