Material Memory
This body of work explores engraving as a means to reconnect materials with their often-overlooked origins. Across a series of etched objects and surfaces, the pieces narrate the journey of raw materials through the forms they take in everyday life—highlighting the disconnect between what we use and where it comes from. Each work uses the ancient act of engraving to quite literally scratch the surface, revealing hidden textures, histories, and emotional resonances. By exposing the layers beneath industrial materials, the series invites reflection on value, labour, and the human imprint embedded in the objects that surround us.
